The Twilight Zone
The Twilight Zone
You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone…
Adapted by Anne Washburn (Mr Burns) and directed by Olivier Award-winner Richard Jones, this “piercingly smart” (Time Out) production of the acclaimed CBS Television series lands at the Ambassador’s Theatre, fresh from a rapturously received, sell-out run at the Almeida Theatre.
Hailed as “a treat from far beyond” (Evening Standard), this “whirling paranormal kaleidoscope” (The Guardian) leads you on a chilling journey into the unknown, through eight stories set where the extraordinary is ordinary, the impossible probable, and where you’re never entirely sure what’s real and what’s your imagination.
But don’t worry. Your imagination can’t hurt you…can it?

You definitely need to have been a fan of the original TV series. I am and I enjoyed. Thoroughly entertaining. The concept might be a struggle for absolute new comers to the Twilight Zone.

I took my now-adult daughter and niece as they were obsessed with the TV show when they were small. This play doesn't disappoint – clever sets that greated a wonderfully weird atmosphere along with the creepy stage hands, plenty of glorious nods to the original and superb acting all helped guide you through clever plots for an overall very enjoyable event.

I thoroughly enjoyed the play of The Twilight Zone. Being a huge fan of the Tv series I had hugh expectations and I wasn't disappointed. The interweaving of the stories worked really well and the cast were uniformly excellent. I was also extremely impressed with the use of the stage/props, sound and music.

I really expected more emotion in the show. I did not like. Sorry!

I had heard good things - especially on the stagecraft - although was worried by the idea of how eight stories would fit into the show. As it happens, I needn't have worried. Not all stories share the same stage time or structure - one story in particular is extremely pared back, others are run as single (long scenes) and others are dropped in all over. It works really well.

As a newcomer to the Twilight Zone show, the play was a lovely teaser for what I have to look forward too! The play itself was visually beautiful with nice little touches and usage of the Twilight Zone's iconography and, as it goes on, it feels like a charming tribute to the show and its creator, Rod Sterling. Even if you're new or have never seen the Twilight Zone, the play does a great job at catching the tone and spirit of the original show with 8 classic episodes adapted for the stage. However, with that, I found that certain adaptations were cut too short and I was left a little confused at certain points due to my entry-level status with the show. The actors also do a great job, and they seem to be having a lot of fun in the multiple roles they play throughout, which I always love seeing. If you have the time, and the money, I would recommend seeing this play so you can see the point of plays - to enter a world of imagination.

I really enjoyed it, very simple set but very effectively used. It was quite amusing in places.

Our entourage of Twilight Zone fans found ourselves inside the Ambassadors Theatre, away from the Spring cold rain. Based on 8 stories from the original series, the production focused on telling those stories in true Twilight Zone fashion. Intermingled plot lines and clever, yet simple stage production allowed the stories to shine through. True to form and entertaining (and a little TWesque creepy), I’m impressed and somewhat taken aback how the story of human nature hasn’t really changed in almost over 50 years. The Twilight Zone is fun to watch, provides laugh out loud moments and a few somber thoughts (especially in act two). My only moment of ugh! came from the beginning of act one (curtain up) from two actors whose dialogue was difficult to understand and having heard the same from our entourage, I wasn’t the only one, but, after a few moments the dialogue problem cleared itself and we all settled in for a very entertaining evening of journeying into another dimension. Definitely worth seeing. Great fun.

It was a pleasant surprise for my family who were dreading to the theatre that I'd booked Only Fools and Horses ! Quite an odd show, but we enjoyed our evening out. Innovative theme, and some good effects.

Well acted and thought out but I found it hard to engage with the performance. Having said that row behind me were obviously serious followers. a lot of talent in the cast

The Twilight Zone is an evening of nightmarish scenes performed by a very versatile company who play many parts each. There are laughs as well as chilling episodes. For me, the most frightening one was set in a time of impending nuclear war where one family had built a bunker and all their neighbours wanted to share it. In the resulting row they all made their real feelings about each other known. It was the most chilling scene of all.
