Glengarry Glen Ross
Glengarry Glen Ross
Christian Slater, Robert Glenister, Kris Marshall, Stanley Townsend and Don Warrington star in David Mamet’s acclaimed masterpiece Glengarry Glen Ross, which returns to the West End this Autumn for its first major revival in over a decade.
This ground-breaking modern classic has won every major dramatic award on Broadway and in the West End, including the 1983 Olivier Award for Best Play and the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and was later adapted by Mamet for the 1992 film starring Jack Lemmon and Al Pacino.
At a time of fierce debate about the American Dream and what it represents, Glengarry Glen Ross is a lacerating satire for modern society.
Lies. Greed. Corruption. It’s business as usual.
Set in an office of cut-throat Chicago salesmen. Pitched in a high-stakes competition against each other, four increasingly desperate employees will do anything, legal or otherwise, to sell the most real estate. As time and luck start to run out, the mantra is simple: close the deal and you've won a Cadillac; blow the lead and you're f****d.

Didn't understand a word of the sales talk, but didn't really need to. Great performances. Enjoyed. Staff very polite and helpful.

Your loop system was not working so I missed a good half of the script,so by and large most dissappointing. Coupled with £98 pounds worth of train fares we wished we had stayed at home. Not a memerable day I am afraid.

I was very excited when I booked the tickets as the cast sounded great, all my favourite actors. But I was left very underwhelmed..

Excellent acting considering a very difficult narrative. Very bad language in the script that some might find offensive.

Loved it, just enough pathos and humour, to keep you engaged throughout. Don Warrington played his character so well, I wanted to jump on stage, give him a hug and tell him everything would be OK. A triumph. Thank-you

This play is short and sweet and full of lies and drama and robbery! Acted beautifully by a fantastic cast. I absolutely loved it!

Went with daughter, son and husband who are in property! I was a bit lost in the first half but acting was superb and all was revealed eventually. Great to see so many actors well recognised from other roles.

The play was wonderfully acted. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I was very glad it was short as my seat was very uncomfortable

Not really my cup of tea but still appreciated the talented cast of actors. Christian Slater is a superb actor and also really enjoyed Robert Glenister's performance too. Set design was great. A very short production, Act 1 is 30mins and Act 2 is 45mins. Would have felt short changed if I'd paid top price for my ticket. The cast were very generous with their time afterwards at the stage door posing for photos, signing autographs etc.. Pleased I saw the play but wouldn't watch again.

Part of my wife’s birthday celebrations. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Play was great and we got a full complement of the cast’s signatures. All seemed top blokes who had time for autograph and / or selfie hunters. Would recommend the venue, the play and the cast to all

Outstanding! Really did enjoy this play truly top notch. A dream cast and a total master class in acting from ALL. Stanley Townsend was marvellous. Christian Slater brilliant as always. I hope they all enjoyed themselves because the audience certainly did enjoy watching this extremely talented group of actors! Thank you for a great night.

I am a great fan of the movie having watched it many times. I have also seen the previous West End production some years ago but I have to say the Playhouse production was the best and full marks to a superb cast, exceedingly well acted and true to life.

One of the few plays I have seen where I have been able to immerse myself in the story and stop analysing who’s who and what’s what. A credit to the ensemble, most of whom are acting against how they’ve been previously typecast.

It was a little difficult at first to process the accents and the volume but as soon as our ears adjusted what a treat. Brilliantly acted be everyone. It's a short play but precise and as sharp as a knife. Thoroughly enjoyed!

This is really terrific production of a groundbreaking play by David Mamet. A must See!

Incredible American accents by the non USA cast members (agreed by some US visitors we met at the stage door) and powerful performances from all actors. A difficult Mamet play to get right but it was stylish, accomplished and spellbinding. Oh, and the timing of the lines was immaculate. You won't be sorry if you go to see this production.

Excellently play out by all the actors .Very convincing performances. Did feel short changed in terms of first act over so quickly and then to find the set was made up of only two stage scenes. Do understand constraints but was left like something was missing which would have given more background and human failures from one or two of the characters

A fabulous evenings entertainment. All the actors were superb and how the scene change was achieved was amazing.

The production of Glengarry Glen Ross at the Playhouse theatre is fantastic! The set was very well done, with the Chinese restaurant in the first act and the office in the second act. The real estate agents who have fallen on hard times and are fighting their battles in a fast changing world, as well as the quandaries of their customers are portrayed so well with absolutely outstanding performances from Christian Slater and Stanley Townsend.

From off the off this production grips the audience. A great script is perfectly delivered by all the cast. Humour in the performance was perfectly timed with the tragedy and angst never far away. Breathtaking.

Catch this if you can. The acting is outstanding. Also not too long! Home by 10.30. (Bonus) whole cast is terrific.

After the wonderful reviews I found the play Very disappointing. Such a shame with a wealth of talent on stage. I am a regular theatregoer and felt shortchanged having paid a lot for the ticket to see such a brief expose of the real estate world with no depth or subtlety. If you deleted the swearing there was hardly an hour of actual text.

A great production. Taken by surprise by shortness, especially of the first act! But can see why this was necessary for the excellent stage crew. All in all a great night out.

Although not entirely a 'comfortable 'watch, GG was the best night out for a couple of oldies & their mid 20 yr old sons. Extraordinary acting. We laughed, a lot. Carpe the diem!

I know Mamet's work very well and have seen Glengarry GlenRoss countless times. Consequently I also work for an acting school where monologues from this show are done all too often. Needless to say I did not know what to expect going in. But I was shocked when the words I was hearing sounded new again. The actors took characters that were a little dated and refreshed them. Christian Slater is an amazing stage actor that clearly does not get enough acting chops in the states. This play was fun, witty and a quick drink to see while in London.

I find plays very hit and miss, but this was without a doubt amazing and hilarious. The acting was first class, I was worried that a Hollywood actor might not have any stage presence but boy was I wrong - Christian Slater takes over. Definitely a must see.

It is upsetting to receive this email. I have spent lots of time trying to get in touch with the box office, as I had intended to buy tickets for the evening show, and mistakenly bought them for the matinee. I was hoping we might be allowed in at the evening performance, if there were any spaces, but no-one got back to me.

Rather than being fast paced, the performance felt rushed and the dialogue garbled. Unfortunately, this had a detrimental effect for some members of the cast who were assuming US accents. For us, it made following the plot difficult and there wasn’t the tension and intrigue that we’d expected.

It is some years since I have seen this play. This production was well acted but I now realise the play is flawed. It lacks dramatic thrust at key points. The film version is much stronger especially Alec Baldwino

Act 1 leaves little to desire however Act 2 makes up for the slow start in my view. It would be great to see a play derived from the Film adaptation as Blake (Baldwin) is a character added in the film and not in the play. Overall Slater was good but Stanley Townsend and Robert Glenister steal the show.

Great performances, lightening fast dialogue but pacing felt off in terms of story telling. Felt it ended prematurely. Christian Slater is a scene stealer. Really enjoyed it though.
