Matthew Warchus’ big-hearted, smash hit production of Charles Dickens’ immortal classic returns for a third year to The Old Vic, joyously adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child).
The Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol fills the auditorium to the brim with mince pies, music and merriment, a unique staging immerses the audience in this uplifting story.

I watch ‘A Christmas Carol’ every year in all of its guises, this is one of the best I have seen. Very clever use of props and stage management brought this to life. Well done to all involved
My husband and I took our 7 year old boy to see A Christmas Carol last night, and it was everything I had hoped it would be. The story has been one I have loved since I was little, and my husband too, so we really want to pass it on to our son. The production was outstanding, from the moment we arrived, we were met with warm mince pies and satsumas, wonderful music and a general feel of festive cheer and being involved. The acting was super, my favourites were Scrooge himself of course, Little Fan and Fred, but every single person on stage was wonderful to watch and to listen to. The music was beautiful and you'd have to be Scrooge yourself not to be warmed to the very heart by it. As you can tell, I loved it as did our son who thought it was the most magical thing he had ever seen. Wonderful stuff!
Amazing energy, timing and set - really immersive! Scrooge gave everything! Well worth seeing.
By far, the best production of a Christmas Carol that I’ve ever seen! I left completely delighted! I came all the way from California - and would do it again next year!!
This show was brilliant. Not to be missed.
Excellent performance. Traditional with deep undertones and very atmospheric scenes. At first I was concerned that the performance was going to be a bit trendy. However, I loved it and will go again.
An excellent show a lot of unexpected aspects
This is the 2nd time we have seen the production and we would definitely see again. Its wonderful and so true to the book.
Immersive, in the round production combines a faithful retelling of the Dicken's classic with the best elements of pantomime. Wonderful cast, spellbinding performance by Patterson Joseph. Loved every minute.
