Direct from its sold-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Tony and Olivier award-winning director Trevor Nunn’s ‘exuberant revival’ (Daily Telegraph) of the classic Broadway musical Fiddler on the Roof transfers to the West End for a strictly limited run. The Playhouse Theatre will be specially transformed into an immersive space for this ‘shiveringly intimate chamber musical about family’ (The Times).
Old traditions and young love collide in this joyous and timely celebration of life. Tevye’s daughters’ unexpected choice of husbands opens his heart to new possibilities, as his close-knit community also feel winds of change blowing through their tiny village.
Featuring the iconic score including ‘Tradition’, ‘Matchmaker, Matchmaker’, ‘Sunrise, Sunset’ and ‘If I Were a Rich Man’, and packed with Jerome Robbins’ original Tony award-winning choreography, Fiddler on the Roof ‘bursts from the stage’ (Financial Times), bringing new life to one of the most beloved musicals of all time.
★★★★‘A resounding success. This one is pretty perfect.’
It was a brilliant .
Loved the innovative start with actors milling on stage before the first scene. Theatre felt very intimate. Singing and diction was perfect throughout and the action cleverly made use of all available space. Minimal use of props. Great casting for all parts and a well-deserved standing ovation at the end reflected the appreciation of the audience. Loved it!
I greatly enjoyed it, as did my wife and granddaughter. I thought it was a good production with a skilled band and cast and great dancing
This is a completely wonderful musical and each and every performer was magnificent. The singing, dancing and acting were all first class and the standing ovation at the end was completely deserved. Definitely go and see this thought provoking and life affirming production if you can.
Having seen Fiddler on the Roof on at least six occasions (the last one being at Chichester 2 years' ago) we thoroughly enjoyed this production. The dancing was fantastic even better than the previous shows. We had a great experience, especially with Maria Friedman who was great.
Wonderful musical really enjoyed it and having seen it years ago appreciated now the whole story. Having come from similar background it evoked many emotions but loved the singing, the dancing and everyone who took part. Definitely recommend it
Absolutely amazing The best show Iv been too lately (and I go quite often. Thank you so much to each and everyone of you.
Staging makes you feel part of the production as the village pavements weave into the stalls. Songs are already well known and the acting and singing are superb really bringing out the hardship of life at the time and the social changes taking place. Humour is however always present so all round very entertaining. Highly recommended
The show was fabulous would recommend! However if booking seats at the playhouse do not pick front few rows of dress circle. It does say restricted view.., it is completely restricted for the front row .. so they try to move Forward in their seats , which restricts the view for a couple of rows behind!
Striking scenery using auditorium as well as stage. Excellent songs of course, but felt we were part of the show as characters came and went alongside us. Loved Tevye’s conversations with God, acted with such natural intimacy with his Lord. The acceptance of the unfairness of their life is a lesson for us in our more fortunate society today, but a reminder that these disadvantages still exist. Good life lessons from tales written in the 1900s.
Absolutely fantastic performance by the whole cast, well done everyone!!
The show was fantastic! All aspects of performance were brilliant and I was very moved by the ending which was so cleverly choreographed on a small stage
An absolutely amazing show, brilliant from start to finish. Everything was top notch, every performer was excellent. Best show I have seen in ages.
I was spellbound by this show. The set and costumes were amazing. It has the perfect balance of lightheartedness and emotion to keep you transfixed all of the time. Sound quality was excellent as well.
Absolutely amazing. Fabulous cast musicians set ,& theatre. A superb production. Really shouldn’t be missed.
From beginning to end, we were immersed in the storyline. Every single actor on that stage were 100% in character, 100% of the time, the songs and harmonies were fantastic and I would go and see it again in a heartbeat. Special mention for Andy Nyman who plays the lead role so perfectly and certainly knows how to work an audience. Absolutely outstanding!
Great production great company good singing voices all over a great version
Fiddler on the Roof at the Playhouse Theatre was absolutely brilliant. It was entertaining yet emotional which the cast portrayed so incredibly well. I will definitely be coming again! Thankyou for such a moving, amazing performance.
Enjoyed Fiddler on the Roof, music & singing made you feel good, the acting had humour, excellent entertainment
Saw Topol i Fiddler on the Roof 36 years ago so was a bit apprehensive going again. However the show was excellent with first class performances. A great production, well recommended.
Fantastic show!! Would see it again and again!
I saw the matinee performance on Saturday 25 May 2019. Wonderful show, fantastic singing, dancing and acting and so exuberant. I would definitely recommend it.
very well acted full off emotion and the singing .. you should produce a cd of the songs from the casts
It's a brilliant version of a fantastic musical with all the ingredients - great songs, story, cast, set - and absolutely fizzing with energy and brio.
My son (18) and I had a wonderful time watching Fiddler on the roof yesterday. We didn’t know much about the story, but absolutely loved this witty, heartwarming show! The main character is absolutely amazing. One of our favourite shows now! Xxx
Everything I hoped it would be and so much more, great cast and a fantastic production. So glad I hadn’t managed to see Fiddler on the Roof in New York as it couldn’t have topped this performance in this beautiful setting, the Playhouse is the perfect location. Can’t recommend this show enough.
Really enjoyed. Excellent performance.
Brilliant production. Entertaining. Funny and excellent portrayal of characters. Pity wife could not make it because supporting sister after operation.
We loved this production. The singing and acting were of the highest quality. The setting fitted this theatre. It was a wonderful experience.
Really enjoyed the play. Beautifully acted. Great set. One down fall, if you are shorty it is very difficult to view all parts of the stage.
We really enjoyed the performance and am really happy to recommend this musical.
Absolutely great, good trombonist and band too!
Loved this performance from the second it started. The entire cast are so talented. Brilliant acting and singing. I would go and see it again and will be recommending it to everyone.
Words cannot fully describe how we felt about this show and the cast. Just brilliant, fantastic, wonderful. Tevye was the star of the show but the rest of the cast were stars too. Coming from a Jewish background I experienced laughter and tears. Thank you all for a show that we will never forget.
It was fantastic the best show ive seen in ages
Full of energy and warmth. Witty and emotional in turns. Very enjoyable. Loved the stage setting.
Excellent set, felt intimate and atmospheric. Small orchestra perfect for the job. Actors and singing very good (especially Golda) and daughters. Topol is a very hard actor to follow and, although Rectevier was perfectly adequate with a good vouce, we felt the show would have benefited from a stronger lead man.
Excellent. The cast and performance was amazing. A show worth seeing in my opinion.
The cast made this an enjoyable experience and the songs are as effective now as with the original production many years ago.
One word: UNBELIEVABLE !!!! One of the BEST musical theatre shows I've ever seen !! First time seeing it (having not watched the film) and my goodness it blew me away !!! Have already booked again !! Andy Nyman and Judy Kuhn are AMAZING !!!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The best thing I’ve seen in the west end. It’s excellent. The whole cast are brimming with talent, Andy Nyman is spectacular. I’ve seen it twice on this run, and I’d go a third time. Magnificent
Absolutely brilliant from the dear little theatre to the setting. A beautiful production, wonderful actors. I could watch it again and again.
Brilliant and really well acted thoroughly enjoyed it .
Really good musical, we had an excellent time. "If I was a rich man" wasn't sung quite as expected but we really enjoyed it. Worth seeing! Excellent customer service from the stewards too.
Cannot fault this show at all. Brilliant set, orchestra and cast. Special mention has to go to Tevye, he brought the character totally to life
We had a great time. Front row circle seats so we had full view of the stage and all the cast. During the dance scenes, which were full of energy, we could see all the dancers in formation. The actors were all really well cast and they all sang beautifully! Thoroughly enjoyable and would highly recommend!
This is a fantastic musical. Fast paced and full of emotions. Happiness and sadness, poverty and romance, and lots of Tradition! This singing is excellent, and the actors true to their parts. The set in the Playhouse Theatre is just perfect, as is the whole show. Well done to all concerned.
The musical was amazing it’s one of the best I’ve seen in a while. The cast were brilliant and there voices were great. I would highly recommend this for the small stage they packed everything in and more. You must seen this before it moves on.
