The comedy masterminds behind five-star hits The Play That Goes Wrong (Olivier Award for Best New Comedy) and Peter Pan Goes Wrong, return to the West End with their latest lung-bustingly funny creation: The Comedy About A Bank Robbery.
Welcome to Minneapolis, 1958, and the Minneapolis City Bank. Now under the gruff and rather irreverent management of Robin Freeboys, the Bank is entrusted with a priceless diamond by a Hungarian prince. However, when the jewel catches the eye of mean-spirited jailbird Mitch, he teams up with corrupt guard Cooper and Freeboys’ money-hungry daughter Candice, intent on separating the Bank from its most precious deposit.
Mischief Theatre’s new play, written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, is already being called the funniest show in London. Fast-paced and riotously hilarious, The Comedy About A Bank Robbery masterfully unites screw-ball comedy with real theatrical invention, and is guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles.

Never been to the west end before, I thought that the comedy about a bank robbery was very funny especially the bit from the bedroom scene also the showing with mr threeboys hitting the poor man with the file and off the desk. All the cast played there parts well and it was very enjoyable. So well done everyone associated with this performance.
Full of energy, great cast and very funny.
This has everything, slapstick, play on words, and very clever scenery. Great comic timing. Ideal for all ages. The office scene was inspired - I will say no more, you have to see it for yourself.
Having seen the Play that goes wrong , that was really funny. This was a sad show. I found it unfunny and tiresome. One of the leading parts got replaced I can only think he felt the same way. And then thank -od the fire alarm went Off and we had to evacuate the theatre.
So funny. Wasn’t sure how it would compare to The play that goes wrong but it’s brilliant. So clever and had my in tears at certain points throughout
A fun play that appeals to those who like plenty of visual humour particularly slapstick.
Absolutely Brilliant , All The Cast Worked Extremely Hard
good play , had a lough a feel good play
I took my grandsons who really enjoyed it. We had seen a play that went wrong. Now waiting to see Peter Pan
First time going to a theatre for a few years, nothing normally takes my fancy. We had great seats and this was a very funny but a good storyline show. Some parts are quite cheesy and you hope it won’t continue but it gets better as it goes on!
Slick and comedy timing excellent. Very good cast. Will certainly go and see other plays by Mischief Co. Lots of laugh out loud moments
The whole show was tremendously funny, best show we have seen and I think funnier than The play that went wrong. I think this group get better and better. Cant wait for next one.
Really good show. Endless laughing and nice to see something very silly and funny. Staging was amazing, loved the staging in the second half. Really cleverly written and a few twists here and there
It was very good and funny I would come back again
Front row seats. A great performance and incredibly funny all for fifty pounds. Well worth it.
I laughed out loud several times! My teenage boys thoroughly enjoyed the show!
Great show, couldn't stop laughing
We were all looking forward to the show as we heard it was excellent, and I can honestly say it excelled in every aspect, non stop fun and laughs from first line to last. My only complaint would be We’re going to have to go back and watch it again as we made ourselves miss a lot of it as we were laughing so much. Can’t wait to bring my kids to see this later In the year. And we will also be checking out there other show the play that went wrong. Well done mischief theatre!!!
Such a well put together play and just so funny.
I was pleasantly surprised with just how funny this comedy was to myself and the rest of the audience. Full of Dad type jokes and good old slapstick this is a very reasonably priced way to laugh away the stresses of everyday life in London. Thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to see something light hearted and cleverly performed.
Absolutely hilarious from start to finish. I’ve never laughed so much in my life and I am not exaggerating. My face ached and I felt exhausted with laughing when it finished. I am recommending it to all my friends and family.
The delivery of jokes was excellent, as was the creativity in producing the show. I was in stitches throughout.
I was a little sceptical about seeing the show but that lasted all of 30 seconds. A wonderful multitalented cast, an outrageous story, perfect timing, slapstick, music, brilliant set. I haven’t laughed so much in a long time. You have to see this.
This was a fast paced and hilarious farce which had us gripped from beginning to end. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing.. Loved all the actors especially Cooper and Sam.
Loved the fast pace and the actors were wonderful- very energetic and had some very funny lines/ scenes.
I went to watch this with my daughter , she had wanted to see it for ages but i was a bit hesitant but having watched it yesterday im really glad i decided to go!. It was very funny, really entertaining . You couldnt take your eyes off it .the actors were great. Timing of everything was perfect , a real well worth going to see play
It’s a must see show when visiting London. Actors were fantastic, couldn’t fault the performance. Definitely coming again.
We saw The Play that goes wrong a few years ago which was brilliantly funny so we keen to watch this one. We weren’t disappointed. Completely full on from the moment it started ... I laughed till I cried. Very clever staging and split second timing throughout. Would thoroughly recommend.
There is an element of slapstick in this show as one would expect from this company, but it is not overdone, which makes for a really fun experience. The actors are excellent - sustaining the accent throughout. Our party of six all enjoyed the show immensely. We were sat in the front row, so almost felt part of the performance at times. Highly recommended.
After watching Peter Pan Goes Wrong on TV at Christmas, we just knew we had to come and see this show in the theatre! It was hilarious from the very start to the very end - both myself and my boyfriend have never laughed so much, it is the funniest thing we have ever seen! I would highly recommend anyone to see this, and any future shows they may perform!
Both myself and my 13 year old daughter were eager to see this after the wonderful play that goes wrong. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. The cast were fantastic, the dialogue sharp, and the fun lasted all through the show. Ridiculous fun.
Having seen The play that Goes Wrong twice and thoroughly enjoyed it our expectations were high. And in some parts, particularly the action scenes ropes, walls or dodgy beds it was hilarious. The down side was that many of the gags were predictable and corny and there seemed to be a number of prolonged silences where the temptation was to think that someone was trying to remember what line came next. The singing , harmonies and all were great.
Hi,my partner booked this show for me as a birthday present.Im widely regarded by friends and family as something of a victor meldrew. So I didn't have high hopes.Must say that I haven`t laughed so much in a long time.Words like outstanding, brilliant and excellent come to mind in describing this play and its actors .However I do think that it anyone below the age of sixteen should not be allowed to see it. Your still chuckling.Chris
Absolutely brilliant. Haven't laughed so much in a long time! Looking forward to Peter Pan
Fab show, never stopped laughing
This was a brilliant show from beginning to end. Went to this following previous visit to ‘the play that goes wrong’. Excellent cast, laughs and enjoyment throughout. Just Brill!!! Looking forward to ‘groan ups!’
What a brilliant night. I cried with laughter. Fast paced and energetic. I have no idea how the actors can keep up that kind of energy night after night.
Action comedy with good lines which are clever and so funny. Actors work hard at a pace which keeps you laughing and there’s some slap stick too. Brilliant.
Funny, silly, fast paced and highly recommended.
A quick moving farce with Lots of slapstick and fast talking. We were surprised it was set in America and not in the UK. We enjoyed the second half more than the first as there was more action and clever use of props.
We were a large family party of 13 and it appealed to all ages. Entertaining, clever, fast and funny!
My husband and I had already seen the play that went wrong, which we loved, so the Bank Robbery has a lot to live up to. The split second timing was amazing (dialogue, action and scenery) . We found the first have very amusing; but the second half wasn’t quite as good. However nearly all the audience around us were laughing a lot, so it could just have been us!
Past reviewers have expressed differing opinions. If you go expecting a sequel to The Play that went wrong, you’ll have been misled. The play relies on innuendos supported by slapstick routines and smutty ‘comedy’ (which we can’t seem to do without these days). The 30% seat vacancies said it all - especially when the similarly timed showing of Wrong Play was almost at capacity. I think this was a step down the ladder - particularly listening to the comments of my fellow audience members as we left the theatre.
Brilliant show from start to finish! Fantastic 😃
Very cleverly written comedy. Laughed from start to finish!
Brilliant, funny and superbly performed
I wasn’t sure what to expect as we sat waiting for the show to start, but from the beginning to the end I loved every part, it was funny, fun, slick, entertaining, and very thought out, the writing was so clever, the actors were great. Just booked to see the other show, “the show that goes wrong”
