Beautiful - The Carole King Musical opened on Broadway in January 2014 and has since become one of Broadway's top-selling shows, and has been nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show then transferred to London and this smash hit is now playing at the Aldwych Theatre on the West End featuring the musical's original Broadway creative team.
It tells the untold story of the phenomenal yet insecure music legend Carole King from her days as a schoolgirl to her dazzling rise to chart-topping superstar. The musical explores King's marriage to song-writing partner Gerry Goffin and their lively competition with contemporary song-writing twosome Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
An icon of her generation, Carole King sold 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow', her first hit, when she was only seventeen. Her extraordinary musical talent is powerfully showcased in Beautiful - The Carole King Musical with songs by both King and Goffin and Mann and Weil given new life on stage with the help of a twelve-strong orchestra and twenty-six performers. This heartfelt show bursting with the songs that defined a generation is sure to be as popular in the UK as it is across the pond and tickets will sell out fast.
Was a really good show we had a great evening.
Fantastic performances from the entire cast. Was smiling from beginning to end. It brought back so many fond childhood memories!
Wonderful performance from all singers actors and dancers
The Carol King storyline and the music that covers this era of her life, was more than great, when taking into account a cast that was more than just ready to preform, but to give it their all. Definitely a show to be glad to say "Oh yes I've seen it"
Went with 15 year old granddaughter on recommendation of friend. We both enjoyed it hugely. I had not realised the extent of Carole's work, which provoked many nostalgic memories. Granddaughter was familiar with quite a few songs, even if she'd never heard of the singers/groups for whom they were originally written.
This is a finger clicking, toe tapping fun evening!
I am SO pleased I have seen this show! It had wonderful reviews and I thought it would stay on forever....in the event I have seen it one week before it is coming off! The show has humour, pathos, energy and, of very course, BEAUTIFUL music! Cassidy Janson was sensational as Carol! My only SMALL whinge is that I missed some of the dialogue because the actors spoke too quickly at times...in an American accent!
Went to see Beautiful with my mum as a birthday present. Amazingly managed to book second row seats less than a week before the show despite the theatre being full for the matinee. The Aldwych is a very nice theatre, lots of loos! and staff extremely helpful and pleasant. The show was stunning, - cast, song showcase, performances, clever staging and costume stages, and above all a moving and powerful storyline - I cannot speak highly enough of the entire show. Now only two weeks left on the West End before touring the UK. Catch it if you can!
As it is finishing soon it prompted us to see it as we had heard good reviews, very enjoyable, the cast worked really hard on a non stop show . Enjoyed all the music.
Went to see the show as a birthday present with my mum. Had front row seats, could've fallen in the orchestra pit. The show was wonderful. The leading lady fantastic, the cast outstanding. Cant say enough about this show. beautiful is totally brilliant.

So good. 10/10. A memorable evening, so glad I got to see it.
We saw it twice this summer and were blown away both times - can't recommend it highly enough! Fantastic music, brilliant set with clever set and costume changes, beautiful story about how a woman achieves (beyond) her dreams against all odds. Loved it!
Great entertainment. The musicality of the performers was breathtakingly good and the fun performances of the groups of the era added to the overall enjoyment. The balance of music, song and the story of Carol King worked well. The ever changing lighting effects of the sets was remarkably well done and definitely added to the overall very professional production.
Brilliant show, superb singing, shame its closing on West End but would recomend people see it when it starts touring round the country.
Fabulous from start to finish. Definitely recommend.
A truly memorable experience. Wonderful musical, the best I have seen to date.

Really enjoyed the show, great singing, and very entertaining
As a devotee of 60/70 music, this show is a wonderful example of how modern day presentations really highlight what was achieved in those decades as a forrunner of today's music. This should be compulsory for all students of music. Fantastic performance s by a talented cast.
Excellent production in every way, Highly recommend.

"Beautiful" was a marvellous show which I have recommended to all my friends. The cast were talented and enthusiastic and brought to life in a wonderful fashion the great songs from eras gone by, written and usually performed by the peerless Carole King. A real treat!
