The Railway Children

E. Nesbit’s classic children’s tale tells the story of Bobbie, Phyllis and Peter who move with their mother to rural Yorkshire and take a house near a railroad.

A 1000-seat purpose-built stage has been constructed around a functioning railway line on which a sixty-tonne locomotive will come barrelling right into the venue.

Adapted for the stage (or rather, the railway station) by Mike Kenny, The Railway Children is a once-in-a-lifetime theatrical experience, an explosion of activity, excitement and poignant storytelling that will thrill and charm the entire family.

Shaun Williamson has joined the cast as Mr Perks, as the show celebrates its first anniversary at King’s Cross Theatre in London!

Good To Know

Unfortunately there is not a cloakroom on site, and audience members will need to keep all belongings with them at all times, storing them underneath their seat if necessary. For this reason very large bags or suitcases will not be permitted. There is an unattended ‘Buggy Park’, where audience members can leave push-chairs and strollers.

Please note that filming and photography are not permitted inside the auditorium, and that the performance contains special effects, including haze.

If people arrive late they will be admitted at the first suitable point, which is approximately fifteen minutes into the show. If people leave the auditorium during the show for any reason, they will be readmitted at the next suitable point.

Very entertaining only one fault I went with my two granddaughters and as a gentleman sat in front of her she couldn't see so she stood up on the floor not on a seat and we were in the back row and one of the ushers came and told her to sit down even the people either side of us were in shock as they told me they went to see other shows and got back row seats so they could stand up if this happens. Please can you tell why you take this approach spoils a really lovely day. Thank you Nanny

As a family, we are regular theatre goer's, but this was something special. The theatre itself was unique and the staging, production and actors were all terrific. I would highly recommend this very 'magical' show for all the family.
